1. Child-Centered Education

  • Focus is on the child, not only on the teacher or textbook.

  • Learning happens according to the needs, interests, abilities, and pace of each child.

  • Teacher = guide and facilitator, not just knowledge-giver.

  • Example: Allowing children to choose activities (drawing, storytelling, games).


2. Progressive Education

  • Idea by John Dewey.

  • Education should be practical, democratic, and connected to life.

  • Students learn best through experience + doing things.

  • Encourages cooperation, critical thinking, problem-solving.


๐ŸŒŸ Methods in Child-Centered Progressive Education

(a) Activity-Based Learning (ABL)

  • Children learn by doing activities, not just by listening.

  • Examples:

    • Science → simple experiments ๐ŸŒก️

    • Maths → using beads, sticks, abacus ๐Ÿ”ข

    • Language → role-play, storytelling ๐Ÿ“–

  • Benefits: Develops creativity, interest, and better understanding.


(b) Problem-Based Learning (PBL)

  • Children learn by solving real-life problems.

  • Teacher gives a problem situation, children think, discuss, and find solutions.

  • Examples:

    • "How can we keep our classroom clean?" ๐Ÿงน

  • Benefits: Improves critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making.
